Who Is BigXthaPlug? The Dallas Rapper Taking Over Hip-Hop
BigXthaPlug, born Xavier Landrum, is a Dallas rapper whose deep, commanding voice cuts through any room. He represents a rare blend raw street authenticity meets sharp business instincts. His BigXthaPlug music career didn’t happen overnight. It was built through pain, persistence, and an unshakeable belief in his own voice.
His breakout single “Texas” (2022) put him firmly on the map. The song wove together gospel, trap, blues, and country into something genuinely fresh. People hadn’t heard anything quite like it. Streaming numbers exploded. Industry heads started paying attention.
What truly separates him from the pack is his refusal to dilute his sound for mainstream approval. Growing up, his mother played UGK and Lil Wayne around the house. His father brought R&B legends like the Isley Brothers into the mix. That diverse musical diet shaped a BigXthaPlug hip hop artist whose style defies easy categorization and that’s exactly why it works.
BigXthaPlug Bio From the Streets of Dallas to Sold-Out Arenas
BigXthaPlug’s real name is Xavier Landrum. Born on May 12, 1998, in Dallas, Texas, his BigXthaPlug early life story wasn’t easy. Financial hardship was a constant companion. Street life was right outside his door. These weren’t abstract struggles they were everyday reality, and they would later fuel every bar he ever wrote.
Before music entered the picture, Xavier had serious football ambitions. He attended Ferris High School in Texas, where Division 1 scouts took notice of his athletic ability. He enrolled at Crown College in Minnesota, chasing that dream. Then everything fell apart. An expulsion following a marijuana incident ended his collegiate career abruptly. The football path closed.
What followed was a downward spiral that eventually led to his arrest on an aggravated robbery warrant just before his 18th birthday. In jail, something unexpected happened he found rap. He wrote lyrics on whatever he could grab, including medical forms. Solitary confinement, brutal as it was, became a creative crucible. After release, a probation violation sent him back. He missed his son Amar’s first birthday. That moment broke something open in him. His debut mixtape “Bacc from the Dead” dropped in 2020 and it was exactly what the title promised. A resurrection.
